Natal

Natal, former province of South Africa, on the Indian Ocean. It is 33,578 sq mi (86,967 sq km) in area, with its capital at Pietermaritzburg.lt produces sugar, fruit, cereals, and coal and manufactures fertilizers and textiles, mainly near Durban, the chief city. Natal was aBritish colony (1856–1910). In 1994 Natal was consolidated with Kwazulu, the former homeland of the Zulu population.
