Mudpuppy



Mudpuppy, or water dog (Necturus maculosus), salamander growing up to 2 ft (0.6 m) that lives in many North American rivers and streams. It retains its gills even when adult. Mud puppies get their name because they are reputed to emit barking sounds; however, they possess no voice organs of any kind
