John James Audubon



Audubon, John James (1785–1851), U.S. artist and ornithologist famous for his paintings of North American birds, reproduced in Birds of America (1827–38). He collaborated with the Scottish naturalist William MacGillivray on an accompanying text, Ornithological Biography (1831–39).
