Attorney general



Attorney general, chief law officer of a nation (in Canada also called minister of justice). The U.S. attorney general heads the Department of Justice, is a member of the president's cabinet, enforces federal laws, and advises the president on legal questions. Attorneys general in individual states and Canada perform similar functions.
