Ashland



Ashland (pop. 27,064), city in northern Kentucky on the Ohio River, the seat of Boyd County. It lies in a region of coal, natural gas, and oil deposits and is an important center for iron, steel, and petroleum. The city was settled in 1815 and incorporated in 1870.
