Artificial limb

Artificial limb, device to replace missing hands, feet, arms, or legs. Prosthetics, the branch of medicine dealing with artificial limbs, has developed rapidly since World War I. Prosthetic devices are now complex mechanisms made of materials such as aluminum alloys, rubber, and plastics.
