William Howard Armstrong



Armstrong, William Howard (1914-), U.S. author. Armstrong is best known for the children's novel Sounder, the story of an African American sharecropping family in the Depression-era South, for which he won the 1970 Newbery Medal. Other works include Barefoot in the Grass (1970) and Sour Land (1971).
