Ludovico Ariosto



Ariosto, Ludovico (1474–1533), Italian poet best remembered for the epic Orlando Furioso (1532), which continued the Roland legend, depicting the hero as a love-torn knight. The work greatly influenced later poets such as Edmund Spenser and Lord Byron.
