Argonaut



Argonaut, or paper nautilus, small marine animal (genus Argonauta), a cephalopod which is native to the Mediterranean and other warm seas. Eggs are laid in a semitransparent, papery spiral shell that can be carried by the female. The male seldom reaches an inch in length, but the female may be as long as 6 in (15 cm) or more.
