Arc de Triomphe



Arc de Triomphe, Napoleon's triumphal arch in the Place Charles de Gaulle at the end of the Champs-Elysées, Paris. It was built 1806–36 and is 163 ft (49 m) high and 147 ft (45 m) wide. Inspired by Roman triumphal arches, it bears reliefs celebrating Napoleon's victories. The arch is also the site of the tomb of France's Unknown Soldier.
