April Fools' Day



April Fools' Day, or All Fools' Day, Apr. 1, the traditional day for practical jokes. The custom probably began in France in 1564, when New Year's Day was changed from Apr. 1 to Jan. 1. Those continuing to observe Apr. 1 were ridiculed.
