Anne



Anne (1665–1714), queen of Great Britain and Ireland (1702–14), last of the Stuart monarchs. Her reign was dominated by the War of the Spanish Succession, also known as Queen Anne's War in the colonies (1702–13). It also saw the Act of Union (1707), uniting England and Scotland to form the kingdom of Great Britain, and the growth of the parliamentary system.
