Aniakchack



Aniakchack, volcano on the Alaska Peninsula, in the Aleutian mountain range. It is one of the largest craters in the world, with a diameter of about 6.5 mi (10.5 km). Thought to be extinct when discovered in 1922, it erupted in 1931 and is now classified as dormant.
