Congress of Aix-la-Chapelle



Aix-la-Chapelle, Congress of, meeting (1818) of the rulers of Austria, Prussia, and Russia and representatives from Great Britain and France at Aachen (Aix-la-Chapelle), Germany, after the Napoleonic Wars. The nations sought to preserve the peace established by, and resolve problems arising from, settlements made at the Congress of Vienna (1814–15).
