Gnaeus Julius Agricola



Agricola, Gnaeus Julius (A.D. 37–93), Roman general. As proconsul of Britain (77–84) he defeated the Caledonians and extended Roman rule into Scotland. His son-in-law, the historian Tacitus, wrote the famous biography of Agricola.
