AFS Intercultural Programs, nonprofit organization providing student exchange programs to promote living and learning experience in foreign countries. Founded in 1914 as the American Field Service and originating as a volunteer ambulance corps during World War I, the AFS became a student exchange program in 1947. Active in about 70 countries, its programs primarily involve high school age students and young professionals.
