Acclimatization

Acclimatization, process of adjustment that allows an individual organism to survive under changed conditions in its environment. In a hot, sunny climate, for example, human beings acclimatize by eating less, drinking more, and wearing lighter clothes. At higher altitudes, humans adjust to the diminished oxygen by increasing production of red blood cells.
