Aboukir, village in Egypt situated on the Mediterranean coast between Alexandria and the Rosetta mouth of the Nile. The Battle of the Nile (Aug. 1798), in which British naval forces under Nelson defeated Napoleon's fleet, took place in Aboukir Bay.
