Sir John Joseph Caldwell Abbott



Abbott, Sir John Joseph Caldwell (1821–93), prime minister of Canada (1891–92). During his career as a lawyer he became involved in the Conservative Party and was an adviser to Sir John Macdonald, the first prime minister of Canada. Upon Macdonald's death in 1891, Abbott became prime minister, but he resigned after only 18 months.
